Joao Cancelo intended to release Ronaldo into the channel, but the Al-Nassr forward remained central, expecting the ball in that area. Ronaldo's frustration was palpable as he threw his arms up in exasperation, directing his ire towards Cancelo for the misplaced pass.
However, as the Portuguese talisman turned his back to scold Cancelo, he almost missed the ensuing chaos. Akaydin, under pressure, attempted a risky back-pass to his goalkeeper, Bayindir. The miscommunication and poor execution led to the ball trickling agonisingly past Bayindir and into the net. Ronaldo's frustration quickly turned to elation as he realised the mistake had gifted Portugal a comfortable lead.
