Former Liverpool goalkeeper Chris Kirkland has revealed to talkSPORT that he has been in complete awe of current Reds stopper Alisson Becker having seen him on the training pitch.
What’s the word, then?
Well, the 6 ft 6 retired player was asked about the Brazilian on talkSPORT, and he certainly didn’t hold back with his praise of the former Roma man.
Kirkland, who has visited Melwood on more than one occasion, told talkSPORT: “He’s the only goalkeeper I’ve watched and gone, ‘Wow’.
“I walked away and I was purring when I got home. I was smiling because I’d just seen an incredible session from him.
“John Achterberg, the goalkeeper coach there, and Alisson were training with Simon Mignolet. Those two were great but Alisson was just incredible.”
High praise indeed
It certainly is, and it is well deserved.
The South American goalkeeper has taken to Premier League football like a duck to water, and he very much has a big chance of helping the club to the title given their position right now.
17 clean sheets and 18 goals conceded in 31 top flight appearances show the impact he has made, and along with Virgil van Dijk he has completely transformed a defence that looked a lot more shaky with Mignolet and Dejan Lovren on the field.
How did Mane score THAT goal against Bayern last week? Did he dazzle them with Firmino’s teeth? 442oons speculate in the video below…
Already an Anfield hero, the all-round brilliant stopper has an opportunity to become a legend for the Merseyside outfit in the coming weeks.
