England have crashed out of the World Cup after losing 2-1 in extra time to Croatia.
However, Gareth Southgate and Co bow out with their heads held high after surpassing most of the nations’ expectations by reaching the semi-finals.
Kieran Trippier, in particular, was one of England’s standout performers in the tournament.
The Tottenham defender was probably the best right-back in Russia, putting in excellent defensive displays throughout while also being a reliable outlet in the Three Lions’ attack.
Trippier added another dimension to England’s game and was a constant threat from out wide and set pieces.
Trippier’s performances, though, will come as no surprise to Tottenham supporters who witnessed the 27-year-old oust Kyle Walker out of Mauricio Pochettino’s starting XI before joining Manchester City.
And the White Hart Lane faithful on Twitter have been quick to praise Trippier’s showing – in which he scored a brilliant free-kick – against the now World Cup finalists Croatia…
