Davinson Sanchez played well as Tottenham Hotspur lost 2-0 to Chelsea on Sunday.
On the chalkboard
Spurs endured a difficult afternoon against Frank Lampard’s men, falling to a disappointing defeat.
While there were a number of poor displays across the pitch – Paulo Gazzaniga conceded a penalty with a wild kung-fu kick on Marcos Alonso while Son Heung-Min was sent off for lashing out at Antonio Rudiger – but Sanchez enjoyed a fine display.
The Colombia international was Spurs’ stand-out defender on Sunday evening, per WhoScored, having 73 touches of the ball, the joint-most of any home player, and enjoying a pass success rate of 81%.

More than that, Sanchez also made four tackles, three clearances, and one interception, while also winning two aerial duels and completing one dribble.
This was a confident, assured display in a chaotic game for Jose Mourinho’s side.
Kept his head
Spurs’ players lost their cool throughout the game.
Gazzaniga, Toby Alderweireld, Moussa Sissoko and Dele Alli all picked up yellow cards, while Son, as mentioned, was shown a red.
Sanchez, though, remained in complete control and was assured and composed as his team-mates were quite the opposite.
If some of his pals had followed his example, perhaps Spurs wouldn’t have fallen to such a dismal defeat.
Mourinho’s produced some incredible footballing stars – how much do you know about them?
At the very least, this is a silver lining in a cloudy performance for the north Londoners.
Meanwhile, Spurs fans have reacted to a major contract update.
