Tottenham Hotspur striker Fernando Llorente posted a picture of himself training with an accompanying caption of “getting ready for APOEL” on his official Twitter account ahead of the Champions League clash at Wembley on Wednesday, and Spurs fans were quick to respond.
The 32-year-old has endured a torrid time since joining the north London outfit from Premier League rivals Swansea City during the summer, and he is yet to find the net in 16 appearances in all competitions for Mauricio Pochettino’s men this season – albeit the majority of those outings have come from the substitutes’ bench.
The centre-forward may be handed a rare start against the Cypriot outfit however with Spurs already having qualified for the knockout stages as group winners with a game to spare, with Harry Kane likely to be rested ahead of a busy festive period.
Tottenham supporters took to social media to react to Llorente’s post, and while one said “step up man”, another said “don’t let us down”.
