According to The Express, Tottenham have had a “close look” at Fenerbahce striker Vedat Muriqi in recent weeks.
What’s the word?
Jose Mourinho’s side were on the look-out for a centre-forward during the January transfer window following the injury sustained by Harry Kane, with reports even suggesting that Olivier Giroud was in their sights.
No move failed to materialise however before the end of the deadline, and the club’s shortage of options up front has been further exposed by Heung-min Son’s untimely injury too.

Now, The Express claim that along with the likes of Leicester, Newcastle and Burnley, Spurs have “taken a close look at him over the last few weeks”.
Another blow for Parrott
A new striker being on the agenda is hardly surprising for Spurs, but what kind of message would it send out for Troy Parrott’s personal hopes of being the club’s future number nine?
The starlet is already continuously being told that he isn’t ready by Mourinho, and that the north London side will manage him carefully. But if he isn’t getting opportunities at a time when Spurs really do have a need for a recognised centre-forward, what possible hope does he have of getting first-team minutes if his team act on their interest in Muriqi in the summer?
The latter has smashed in 14 goals this season for Turkish giants, Fenerbahce, and at only 25, is arguably entering the peak years of his career. If Spurs looked to sign a more experienced option, then that could be a stop-gap until Parrott is perhaps matured a bit more.
Whose Line Is It Anyway: Michael Owen, Garth Crooks or Mark Lawrenson?
But a potential forward line of Kane, Muriqi and Son would leave Parrott on the side-lines even more than he already is – he has played a measly five minutes of Premier League football all season.
It’s exactly why it would be a real slap in the face for the Spurs academy product if Mourinho’s side followed up their scouting mission of the 6 foot 4 Muriqi.
Meanwhile, this ace’s comeback from injury may be just as important as Harry Kane’s.
