A run of games that has seen Aston Villa come up against many of the Premier League’s biggest and best clubs has come to an end, following the 4-1 defeat against second-placed Leicester City.
However, Dean Smith’s side will still have a big challenge on their hands when they face Sheffield United on Saturday, with the Blades currently occupying eighth-place in the Premier League table.
Villa have got four points from their last seven games, but they will be hoping to take many more from their next five.
This is because after facing Chris Wilder’s side, they will be up against Southampton, Norwich City, Watford and Burnley.
With this in mind, here is the starting lineup we feel can get this run of games off to a successful start.
Tom Heaton has been an everpresent figure in the Aston Villa goal when available this season, starting 15 matches, so it is only natural that he is expected to start on Saturday.
Frederic Guilbert missed the Chelsea game through suspension and then only came on for the last 12 minutes against Leicester City. While the Frenchman wasn’t reinstated to the side immediately, it shouldn’t be too long until he is back in the team, considering he has 12 starts this campaign.
Ezri Konsa has started all five of Villa’s last league games and that run is expected to continue, while we have partnered him with Bjorn Engels, who could make his return to the team after five games, with Tyrone Mings unavailable through injury.
Matt Targett has got over the injury sustained against Leicester to be available for this game, so his place should be secure.
Douglas Luiz and John McGinn keep their places in the Villa midfield, though the former has been dropped back into the holding role with Marvelous Nakamba being taken out, after his place in the team was recently put at risk. This will leave room for Conor Hourihane to come back into the fold, after being left out against Leicester.
Jack Grealish’s place in the team is arguably the most secure of anyone at Villa so he is included, while Wesley is likely to keep his place despite failing to get a goal or assist in any of his last eight Premier League games.

Trezeguet has been chosen ahead of Anwar El Ghazi for this one, as the Egyptian has scored in each of his last three starts, so it would be pretty harsh for him to be left on the bench for a second game in a row. That could be one of four changes.
